Addictions and Psychological Problems!
We express compassion for individuals who have psychological problems. We can only take visitors who are emotionally coherent and who can participate within the community in a healthy way. If you have addictions and are still using, you cannot come here. No alcoholics!

Dealing with Habitual Guideline Offenders
Theft, violence and ongoing anger will not be tolerated! Dealing with habitual guideline offenders is on a case-by-case basis. Periods of probation may be imposed. Repeated cases of defiant disrespect of the general codes of conduct, visitors will be expelled from the community, some immediately. It is a privilege to be here not a right

Community Consumption Guidelines
a) We are primarily a vegetarian community! Other diets can be accommodated. We have an outdoor gas barbecue for cooking meat/fish/fowl but occasionally someone will use the community indoor stove to cook certain dishes, especially in the winter. We are not dogmatic about eating, there are people here who like to eat meat. If you are very strict about what you eat you will need to find the space within to allow others their choice as well. There are plans in the works to make a separate indoor area for cooking meet, fish and fowl, as this seems to be a never ending issue in communities.
b) Tobacco smoking is permitted at the community. No smoking in any community building/rental or while walking the paths. Please be considerate of others.
c) Alcohol use is permitted, excessive use is NOT. If you have a problem with addiction and are not using then please let community members know and we can support you in abstaining. Those still using cannot come here.

Pets and Animals
We are not overly enthused to have lots of dogs here, as they usually wreak havoc with the local wildlife. Dogs that continually bark are not welcome! Dogs who are aggressive are not welcome. We have a lot of wildlife here and do not want dogs that will continually chase after rabbits, deer, skunks, etc or cats. We also free range our chickens which have been attacked several times by dogs. Well behaved (trained) dogs are welcome. All dogs visiting Wind Spirit must be on leashes until Wind Spirit members approve off-leash activity.

Internet: We use satellite service for our internet which is limited. No online movies or gaming. We do have a large selection of  movies and documentaries here.

Dwelling availability -call or email – (small domes, RV’s and converted buses).

Good reasons to come here.

  • You want to live in a community
  • You are truly interested and want experience living in a community setting
  • You realize there must be a fundamental change in the way people live (this is one option)
  • You want to learn basic skills such as gardening, building, electrical, plumbing, solar …
  • You want to empower/help people working toward a positive future

The Co-Creators Agreements In every organization there are rules, about what you can and cannot do. These seem to increase every year as someone does something we never thought of. If only we could live with complete integrity, we would not need all the dos & don’ts. Reading, contemplating, and integrating The Co-Creators Agreements into your community life is an empowering way of doing this.

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR VISITING

  • Visitors need to have permission from a community member to visit Wind Spirit.  This can involve having contact with us through e-mail, a letter, or a phone call before coming to visit.  Drop in visitors with no notice may not be welcome.
  • If a visitor is staying for less than a week they do not need to go through the whole approval process.
  • If you intend to stay longer than a couple of weeks we need a reference. – Sorry just to many unstable people floating around the community movement these days, they are very wearing on a community.
  • There will be a review of all new people coming here, their ability to get along with others, help with the work, join in the community. At first this will be weekly, then monthly for a few months. Anyone who comes here and becomes a problem in the community will be asked to leave ASAP. We will add that 98% of the people who come here love the place and get along fine in the community. Again the community has to protect itself from those who disturb the harmony of the community.
  • We have a varied amount of community work projects, other days work is done individually or in small groups.   Wind Spirit is not a commercial organic farm and we do not operate as a work camp, we do have many tasks that need doing.
  • Anyone who stays at the community and uses community spaces such as the kitchen, bathhouse, sauna or pool must be willing to take a turn in cleaning these spaces, this is not optional.  We ask that everyone take one day a week in cleaning tasks.  Basic cleaning and doing dishes after using the community kitchen is a must! Overall we try to make the work fun and often work together.  We hope that work projects can help individuals learn new skills and our usually guided under a project manager.
  • 15 hours of Community service per week is asked of visitors.  These hours can be part of work parties or individuals projects.
  • Visitors need to get permission from the community to invite their own personal guests.
  • Visitors may not use Wind Spirit Community’s address as a permanent mailing address, registering their vehicle, etc.  Of course you can receive mail here.
  • Some come here with expectations that our community buildings/infrastructure are just like what they have seen in $250k a unit co-housing communities , you will be disappointed if that is your expectation. We are a rustic living community environment.
  • We have good relations with our neighbors and ask that visitors not get involved in any conflict with them.  If there becomes a problem please let the community know immediately.
